'2005 was rich in emotion, hope, joy and disappointment.' Adriano Galliani defined the year in this way. It started with a home win over Lecce, with Andriy Shevchenko being presented with the Golden Ball in front of the San Siro fans and it ended with the Rossoneri staying on target for the title following a win at Livorno. The positive thing about this year is that Carlo Ancelotti’s side has managed thirty-six wins, eight draws and twelve defeats. It has been a good year by any standards, pulling back eight points on Juventus and making the Champions League final to leave the side battling on two fronts in May. The early part of the new season brought eight wins in a row and qualification for the last sixteen of the Champions League as top of the group for the fifth time in four years. Then there have been some wonderful goal-fests including the 5-2 against Lecce and, of course, the 3-0 at Livorno to round things off.
